Dorjee Lhaton II

Dorjee L. II

Girl from village. SPONSORED

Dorjee L. II is an 8 year old girl from the Sanghar village of Arunachal Preadesh (India), the second youngest child of a mother of six children. Her widowed mother is poor and she can barely support her children. Dorjee occasionally attends a local government school, with very low levels of educational resources and facilities. So her future would be to remain poor and uneducated. On the other hand, the current rate of educational exclusion of girls is very high in these areas.

Her father died in an accident. The mother does ocasional work and takes care of the children and household chores. Her financial situation is critical. She has six children, four boys and two girls. One of the boys is in a monastery, which is free; two occasionally attend the local school and the youngest, aged four, stays at home. Her older sister already had the opportunity for a better education at TCH.

Her mother realizes that she can not do more for her, and understand that joining the Tibetan Children’s Home (TCH) hostel and the Nehru Memorial school will be the best for her. She is willing to join as soon as possible.

There is now an opportunity to board her in the TCH hostel and enroll her in the nearby well resourced school, helping her reach a better future and thus contributing to the development of the local society, closing also the gender gap.

You can be in direct contact with your sponsored girl and monitor her progress in the education process.
