Sonam T. I

Girl from village. SPONSORED

Sonam T. I is a girl born in 2016 in the village of Dundunghar in the eastern Himalayas (Mön Arunachal). She is the sixth child in a family of nine living in poverty. Her parents can barely support their children. Sonam occasionally attends a local government school with very limited resources and educational facilities. Therefore, her future seems destined to remain in poverty and without education. It is important to note that the current rate of exclusion of girls is very high in these areas, making their education a priority for development.

Her father works as a day laborer, and her mother takes care of the children and the household chores. The family’s financial situation is very precarious.

The family has nine children: five boys and four girls. One boy has been admitted to a monastery, while another remains at home helping his parents. Three of her younger siblings stay at home under their mother’s care, and the rest attend the local public school, which is severely under-resourced, whenever possible.

She is currently staying at the Tibetan Children’s Home (TCH) and attends the nearby school.

The sponsor will be in direct contact with the child and monitor the progress in his education.
