Sonam D.
Sonam D. is a girl born in 2014 in the village of Duntse in the Eastern Himalayas, the fifth child in a family of nine living in poverty. Her parents can barely support their children. Sonam occasionally attends a local school, which has very limited resources and educational opportunities. Thus, her future seems destined to remain in poverty and without adequate education. The current rate of exclusion of girls is very high in these areas.
Her father works in agriculture, and her mother takes care of the children and the household chores. The family’s financial situation is very precarious.
She is currently staying at the Tibetan Children’s Home (TCH) and attends the nearby school.
The sponsor will be in direct contact with the child and monitor the progress in his education.
