They lead the activities of our center: teachings, practices and meditations, social and development aid projects, etc. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In addition to the local activities, they travel to the center of Geyje Norling in India, which is also an officially recognized charity, to help in its management and in development aid projects.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>He was born in Nepal in 1973.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>After showing auspicious signs and asking his parents to be a monk at the age of 10, he was recognized as a <b><i>tulku<\/i><\/b> *, the 7th Ratag Rinpoch\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>He studied at <b>Ganden Jangtse Monastery (India)<\/b>, where he graduated as <b>Geshe Lharampa **<\/b>, after the required 23 years of study.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Later he studied Buddhist tantra at the<b> Gyume Tantric Monastery<\/b>, obtaining the title of <b>Geshe Nakrampa ***<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>In 2012 he was appointed Abbot of Geyje Norling, the Monastery from which the Foundation Lamas come.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>He currently divides his time between his work as a teacher in a center in Taiwan and in the Madrid Center of the Foundation, participating in projects of social and development aid.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>* A <b><i>tulku<\/i><\/b>, according to the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, assumes the continuation and custody of a valuable teaching lineage, by showing certain capacities and inclinations from a young age, for which he receives special empowerment and training from a young age.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0T<\/span>ulkus are given the honorary title of Rinpoche, a term that means &#8220;precious&#8221; and that serves to convey proper respect for a great spiritual master.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>** <b>Geshe Lharampa<\/b> title.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The Tibetan word <i>Geshe<\/i> (&#8220;ge&#8221; means virtue and &#8220;she&#8221; friend who helps to know) has as meaning: spiritual friend or friend who knows virtue, or who knows what should be practiced and what should be put aside.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It is obtained in the universities and institutes of Tibetan Buddhism that<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>continue the great intellectual tradition of the ancient Indian Buddhist universities of Nalanda and Vikramasila.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The title is achieved after intensive studies, reflection sessions and debate sessions on classical philosophical texts of Buddhism and their commentaries in different aspects: <b>ontology<\/b> or nature of reality, <b>epistemology<\/b> or the way in which man knows, <b>psychology<\/b> or science of the mind, <b>logic<\/b>, and <b>ethics<\/b> or moral behavior.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0It<\/span>\u00a0requires a minimum of 17 years of study, which can be equivalent to a doctorate or PhD, but it also covers other domains such as, for example, monastic discipline.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>After these studies the teacher is qualified to help others to make progress in wisdom.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Once the title of Geshe is achieved, the most advanced students take exams and further study for 6 more years until they reach the degree of Geshe Lharampa.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>*** <b>Geshe Ngakrampa<\/b> title.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>After attaining the title of Geshe Lharampa, the more advanced students spend a full year at Gyume University studying <b>Tantrayana<\/b> and, after passing the exams, they obtain the title of Ngakrampa Geshe.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Normally afterwards they dedicate themselves to teaching in different centers worldwide.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":31130,"template":"","class_list":["post-19737","team","type-team","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","team_category-masters","entry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.1 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Lama RATAG RINPOCHE - Fundaci\u00f3n Budista Jard\u00edn de la Compasi\u00f3n<\/title>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/jardindelacompasion.org\/en\/team\/lama-ratag-rinpoche\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_US\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"Lama RATAG RINPOCHE - Fundaci\u00f3n Budista Jard\u00edn de la Compasi\u00f3n\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"Some of the Spiritual Directors of the Madrid Center are Trustees and some are also Directors of the Foundation.
